Appointment of Laurent De Camas as President of Qadran, the Franco-Qatari Economic Circle

Paris, March 12 – The Franco-Qatari economic association Qadran is pleased to announce the election of Laurent De Camas to its leadership. A founding member and active participant in the association for the past ten years, he has been actively involved in Qadran’s activities and work since its inception. He succeeds Natalie Demol, former General Counsel for Europe and the Americas at Katara Hospitality, who had served as Qadran’s chair since November 2023.

Laurent De Camas has built a solid track record in the fields of media, sports, and the development of international brands. After more than 25 years of experience with the Canal+ Group, he joined beIN SPORTS France in 2012, where he successively held the positions of Director of Marketing and Development before being appointed Managing Director. In this role, he played a key part in the channel’s sustainable establishment and strategic development in the French market, helping to make it one of the leaders in sports media.

Drawing on this experience at the intersection of the media, sports, and international industries, Laurent De Camas is particularly attuned to the challenges of promoting Qatar’s global influence, notably through sports and sports tourism. Aware of the pivotal role these levers play in the country’s development strategy, he aims to leverage his expertise to strengthen bilateral exchanges and deepen economic ties between France and Qatar.

This ambition is fully in line with the momentum driven by His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to France.

Statement by Laurent de Camas

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the founding members for the trust they have placed in me by appointing me as the director of Qadran. In an international context marked by profound geopolitical upheavals, Qadran’s mission, to foster dialogue, synergies, and economic partnerships between France and Qatar, is more relevant than ever.

After more than ten years of existence, Qadran has established itself as a leading player in Franco-Qatari economic dialogue. I am fully committed to continuing this work to strengthen this strategic partnership, founded on cooperation, trust, and dialogue between the business communities of both countries. This continuity also requires the necessary perspective to guide and support the strategic challenges associated with Qatar’s rise on the international stage.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup marked a major turning point for Qatar, making sports tourism a cornerstone of its long-term development strategy. Today, sports are a powerful vehicle for influence, diplomacy, and international appeal, to which Qadran intends to contribute fully. I wish to support this momentum while continuing our efforts to diversify the bilateral relationship, particularly in key areas such as the energy transition, finance, hospitality, tourism, and the creative industries.”
