Qadran, the Franco-Qatari economic circle, gathered its members the 11th of April for a private dinner in honor of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Qatar Investment Authorities.
Christophe Bourland, Chairman of Qadran, first reminded Qadran’s deep commitment to contributing to the enhancement of the Franco-Qatari bilateral relationship.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Investment Authority, gave a few words about Qatar’s economic situation, stressing the excellent economic performances of Qatar for two years and the acceleration of its domestic demand. 80% of QIA investments are logically directed to the national economy’s development today, with the objective of building a vibrant and more diversified economy.
He stressed the importance of the partnership with France in that perspective: “France and Qatar share a lot of things, starting with common values”. Despite the partnership being already very strong, he asserted that more opportunities were to come. He was referring to the recent agreement concluded in Doha between Edouard Philippe and the Emir on the partnership around the 2022 World Cup, but not only.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani called for reciprocal investments both in France and in Qatar - “We are investing to stay, we are investing for future generations”. He also called for joint investments, thanks to the impressive Franco-Qatari track record and further upcoming synergies, in other markets such as in the Middle Eastern region or in sub-Saharan Africa.
